When he was young , he just focused on his work, he ignored everything around him , including his family. Now he has retired, he misses when he has no hobbies , no hobbies , no interests , no friends, and he could only sit at home alone doing nothing. Once when he was sitting on the porch , he noticed that the cats come and go freely in their home. His mood changed and he begins to use cats as they run and play in his garden and his house . Life becomes interesting , and we share in their daily happiness in this program. Neco-Ban Cats In Your Life is a short and quiet story about a grumpy old man, his sleepy granddaughter, and the many, many cats that show up in their country home. Ibu Masato frowns away as a proud, retired man with a bad back and a chip on his shoulder about his wife and daughter leaving him at home. He barely speaks out loud, but through narrative voiceover we hear his obsession with time, his grievances with being bored and alone, his concern for appearances, and his crabby curiosity about all the cats running amuck in the house. Through a small, ridiculous turn of events, he ends up stranded on his roof with no way down. The myriad helpless facial expressions the veteran actor rolls out during his attempts to get back down are absolutely hilarious. Who knew an old man on a roof could be so funny? The unexpectedly entertaining non-adventures of the old man are just a bonus though. More importantly, the entire film is sprinkled with many scenes of cats scampering around. Though a simple production, Neco-Ban makes fairly good use of its 3D effects to enhance the feline cuteness factor. Cats walk across your TV screen, pop out of watering cans, roll around in flour, get stuck in underwear, and work their hardest to become your screensaver. One particularly impressive shot through a fish tank sees cats playing in the background, while bright orange goldfish swim around the screen. Clocking in at 65 minutes, Neco-Ban is nothing more than a diversion but it's a mighty pleasant one if you want some cute Cats in Your Life.
